Vinification and Ageing: Soft pressing and de-stemming of hand-picked grapes. Maceration for 8 days, ageing for 12 months in oak barriques and at least 6 months in the bottle.
Tasting: Very delicate scent of vanilla, ripe fruit and raspberries. Hints of blackberries and blackcurrants. Soft and warm taste, well balanced and persistent. Liquorice, leather and tobacco aromas. The Barbera d'Alba "Castellinaldo", obtained from pure Barbera grapes, has been produced by three generations of the Cravanzola family, who have given this traditional wine a new prestige. The Cravanzola family's vines benefit from excellent sun exposure resulting in a serious, complex and well-structured wine. As part of the "Bricco del Conte" selection (selection of the best grapes), it has a limited total production which, depending on the year, varies from just 1500 to 3800 bottles. The ageing in barriques mellows its typical exuberant character and bestows a distinctive flavour and unique balance. A highly regarded wine, it is available in the most prestigious starred restaurants in Italy.
