Taurasi DOCG 2007 - Aglianico

Production Area: Campania. Grapes: 100% Aglianico. Alc/Vol: 14,5%. Vinification and Ageing: Manual harvest in mid-November. Cold pre-maceration on skins and maturation in barrels for at least 18 months. Aged for over 12 months in bottles. Tasting: Deep ruby red with orange nuances. Structured wine with blackberries, black cherry and spices aromas. Smooth tannins. Opulent, mouthful, intense and persistent finish. The Loggia del Cavaliere is the fruit of a perfect blend of unique and one-off ingredients: the land, the climate and the grapes of the flourishing Aglianico vineyards. The Tenuta Cavalier Pepe vineyards rise high up the hills, from 350 to 500 metres above the sea level, where they grow alongside chestnuts and olives, and where they benefit from a unique land made up of a mixture of clay, alluvial deposits and volcanic material rich in minerals. In addition, the warmth of the southern sun bestows the grapes with a special richness. The result is a wine with strong characteristics and a complex structure. Aglianico grapes, of reserve quality, are hand-picked from the vines with the best sun exposure, at the very heart of the Taurasi D.O.C.G. area. As with all Tenuta Pepe wines, the Loggia del Cavaliere has also been carefully bottled in the traditional elegant bottle featuring the bronze coat of arms on the stem.
